Once upon a time I did a lot of IT consulting – server installs & maintenance, phone systems, wiring, some website design and hosting. This was my home page for folks to find me.
These days, even though I work for an IT contract company, I don’t do many side gigs any more; so I just use this a place to experiment with WordPress and post a few articles about IT and family.
My name is Herb Parsons. I’ve been involved with computers since about 1985, when I purchased my first personal computer, an Atari 800 with 48 megabytes of RAM. At the time I was in retail sales, but that hobby moved my career to selling computers, which evolved into partial ownership of a computer store, eventually to doing support as an IT professional. That career as an IT professional has now spanned over 30 years. It’s been an interesting journey, to say the least
Back in the early 90’s, I decided to wp-signup.php my own domain name. At the time I was doing some consulting on the side of my regular job, and came up with Parsons Systems for the side gig; thus the domain name ParsonSys.com
There was a time that I was doing a lot of consulting, mostly building servers and setting up office systems, with a little web design thrown in just to make it interesting – but those days are mostly gone. However, since I’ve used the domain name for so many years, it just seemed a shame not to have a website for it.
So, this has become mainly a placeholder where I could experiment. For a few years, I used Joomla! as a web platform, but these days I’m playing with WordPress, so I’ve started over.
Don’t be surprised if you happen to come back and find everything changed. There’ll be lots of experimenting with the site.
